Q. Does my insurance cover chiropractic treatment?

A. Many insurance companies now cover chiropractic care. Typically, each plan allows a certain number of visits each year. Some plans require a co-payment or deductible of a set dollar amount to be met before benefits can be used. Our office is a preferred provider for some major insurance companies. We accept many PPO plans and would be happy to verify your benefits prior to your first visit. If you are unsure about your insurance coverage, you are more than welcome to call and speak to our staff about your benefits.

Q. What can I expect on my first visit? Second visit? Subsequent visits?

A. On your first visit you can expect to fill out some new patient forms about yourself. Dr. Kroes will take your history and perform an examination. X-rays will be taken only if needed. Treatment options and recommendations will then be discussed with you. Your subsequent treatments may include chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, traction, exercise therapy, and other various therapies such as ultrasound or electrical muscle stimulation.

Q. What other services do you offer besides chiropractic?

A. Our office offers a variety of health treatments, including massage therapy, traction, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, hot/cold pack therapy, exercise and nutritional consulting.

Q. What is chiropractic?

A. Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system (especially the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). It looks to address the issue of good health not by the use of drugs and chemicals, but by locating and adjusting a musculoskeletal area of the body which is functioning improperly.

Q. What conditions benefit from chiropractic care?

A. Although chiropractic is used most frequently to relieve neck and back pain, studies have found it to be effective for a variety of conditions, such as migraine headaches, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, pinched nerves, and vertigo.

Q. Does Chiropractic hurt?

A. Under normal circumstances, adjustments don't hurt. The patient may experience a minor amount of discomfort during the adjustment which lasts only seconds.

Q. If I start going to a chiropractor... won't I always have to go?

A. How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.nChiropractic always addresses the physical cause of any problem. You wouldn't expect to be fit and healthy with just a few visits to the gym or ready for the U.S. Open after a couple of golf lessons. Just like choosing a lifetime of exercise and a healthy diet.. versus daily medication - chiropractic is a way of life. Be patient - physical changes take time and maintenance. Good health is always your choice.

Q. Is my problem related to muscle or bone?

A. Muscles and bones work together. It's hard to injure one without affecting the other. Chiropractic care treats both the muscle and skeletal systems.

Q. When do I need x-rays?

A. A patient might need x-rays in the cases or trauma, chronic pain, unusual pain and at different stages of their lives. The use of x-rays can be very beneficial and help us with the correct diagnosis. They are not always required, but the decision should always be left up to the doctor.
